June 2010 Meeting - Field Day Operations

It's that time of the year again for hams to do what they do best "FIELD DAY" !   This year the CCARC will be in Cabin #7 at the Points West Army Resort (Fort Gordon Rec Area for you old timers) up on Lake Thurmond (Clark's Hill Lake for you old timers).  We have the cabin rented for June 25 and 26.  We will set up on the 25th and operate on the 26th as a 2A with a GOTA station.  We will also have a VE Test Session at 0900 on Saturday morning the 26th.  This year we will be having our usual dinner at about 5 pm on the 26th.  Please bring the following - lawn chairs, whatever you like to drink, ice, a dish to pass (call Carmen to coordinate 706-854-7870), your appetite, and a fun attitude. We aren't out to win anything, but we sure would enjoy the pleasure of your company and maybe your operating experience. Come on out and get on the air and see what all the fun is about.  This year we will be operating SSB, CW, and PSK31.  Please RSVP back to me denlap99@hotmail.com if you plan on attending and how many people are in your party.

April 2010 Meeting - Digital Communications

Richard [KR4XN] provided training on ECOMM programs during the April CCARC meeting. He discussed several different digital modes, including WINLINK, AIRMAIL, ECHOLINK and others. Twenty one people were present at the meeting and everyone enjoyed Richard’s presentation.

The following sites have information related to emergency communications:

YAHOO groups: WINMOR, WL2KEMCOMM, WINLINK_PROGRAMS_GROUP, and AIRMAIL2000

Simulated Emergency Test (SET)

The SET in October occurs at the same time as the CCARC's Oliver Hardy Special Event Station. The Club is going to try to do both and see how it works out. We help celebrate the festival each year by putting several W4O special event stations on 40, 20. 15, & 10 meters from 0800 to 1600. We have a huge crowd that anticipates this special event every year.

Committees Forming

The club is looking for persons willing to participate in committees to sponsor our club events. The routine committees needed so far are: Repeater committee, W4O Special Event (Oct.), JOTA special Event (Oct. 16-17), and Boy Scout Merit Badge University (Feb. 6). A new addition might be the Veterans Day Special Event. So we have plenty of opportunity for all members to get directly involved with helping to make each of these events a success.
